Alfalfa Weevil Starting to Hatch

Alfalfa Weevil Starting to Hatch

The Alfalfa weevil hatch has begun in North Central Oklahoma. The weevils that Senior Agronomist Kim Metcalf found on March 2 were very small and buried in the bud (see picture). At this stage they are not necessarily causing any economic damage, but producers should be aware that the hatch has begun and monitor their alfalfa fields in the coming weeks.
